The music and drama departments of Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam , MA will be presenting their 37th annual Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular in eight presentations over the first two weekends of December. The holiday extravaganza centers around a 25 foot tall Christmas “tree” in which the singers become the ornaments, and computerized lighting “dances” to the beat of the music. This year’s musical is entitled “Majesty of Heaven”, compiled and arranged by Tom Fettke and orchestrated by Russell Mauldin. Included in the musical are songs by Chris Tomlin, Steve Green, Shannon Wexelberg, Randy Vader and Jay Rouse, Steven Curtis Chapman, and also includes the highly acclaimed “Mary, Did You Know?”, written by Mark Lowery and Buddy Greene, and ends with an blockbuster rendition of the traditional favorite “Joy To The World”.
The 55-member Bethany Choir, under the direction of Minister of Music Ken Bryars, will be accompanied by the 17-piece Bethany Orchestra. The Bethany Drama Department, under the direction of Marilene Allen (Red Door Theatre), will provide visual portrayals of the biblical narrative as the Choir traces the advent of the Majesty of Heaven to earth, from the vast reaches of the infinite universe He had created to a stable in the little town of Bethlehem.
This “Christmas gift to the Pioneer Valley” is the church’s opportunity to share with all who attend the true meaning of Christmas. All seats are free, with no individual reserved seating. The first weekend will have presentations Friday, December 2nd, at 7 pm, Saturday, December 3rd, at 6 pm, and Sunday December 4th, with a matinee at 3 pm and again at 6 pm. The following weekend will have presentations Friday, December 9th, at 7 pm, Saturday, December 10th, at 6 pm, and Sunday December 11th, with a matinee at 3 pm and again at 6 pm. There will be signing for the deaf and a well-staffed nursery for children 4 and under in all presentations.
