It's About Relationship, Not Religion

It has been said that “religion” is man’s attempt to reach God. The wonderful irony is that God has already reached out to man in the form of His Son, Jesus, who was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and died on a Roman cross – all that we might be reconciled back to God, the Father, through Him. The Bible says that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord [Jesus Christ] will be saved” (Romans 10:13, NIV).

For that reason, we at Bethany Assembly do not preach “religion”, but preach “relationship” with God through Jesus Christ, God’s Son and our Savior. We believe that our personal, individual relationship with Jesus Christ is the key to living out the instructions found in the Word of God, the Bible, and that we cannot reflect God’s character and nature in our daily lives without that personal relationship with Him.

We are created in the image of God. Sin, through Adam, in the Garden of Eden, estranged man from God. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and His triumphant resurrection from the dead, broke the curse of sin and death, and our acceptance of His sacrifice brings us back into fellowship with our God and Creator. That is why we are here. Every day we live, at home, working at our jobs, going to school – all of our earthly existence - we are here to live out His image in us.

Bethany Assembly is made up of people from all walks of life, from many cultures and nations, who have determined to follow after Jesus Christ with all of their heart. No one at Bethany is perfect, but we serve and follow after a Perfect God, and we strive to be a reflection of Him in all that we say and do. We’re in a process to become like Him in all ways and fashions, and we encourage you to join with us in our journey as we follow after Jesus Christ.
