HonorBound Missions Emphasis Breakfast

Saturday, October 17th, 8:00am – 10:00am join us for an international breakfast ($5 per person) and guest missionary Bill Prevette.
Our focus is children and youth at risk or better ‘in crisis’ – globally the statistics are sobering:
- Over half a billion children are struggling to survive on under $1 per day
- 250,000 children and young people are infected with HIV/AIDS every month
- 130 million children lack access to education and 246 million children are child labourers
- 8.4 million children are trapped in slavery, trafficking, debt bondage, prostitution, pornography and other illicit activities
- 500,000 young people under 18 are exploited as child soldiers and 30,000 children die each day from preventable diseases
We work to train, mobilize, recruit and equip churches, agencies and individuals who believe that ‘true religion is to care for the widow and orphan’. We are committed to proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom of God and working towards holistic transformation where youth and children are oppressed or in need.
The Prevettes worked in Romania from 2002-2007. Bill served as the Romanian country moderator, helped start Teen Challenge and continued international efforts to assist children and youth. His ministry also included training leaders and teaching in seminaries and bible schools. He states, ‘my objective is to mentor and equip emerging leaders, training them to advance the Kingdom of God while serving their churches and families. Local churches can be extremely effective in providing care for children who are suffering the effects of poverty and exploitation.’

Former U.S. Secret Service Agent to Speak

In his 23-year career with the U.S. Secret Service, Chuck Brewster guarded numerous political candidate and public officials, including the President of the United States. As one of the special agents guarding the hospital room where a wounded Ronald Reagan stayed after the 1981 assassination attempt by John W. Hinckley, Brewster was prepared to lay down his life should another attack come.
“Agents must have a commitment to be team players, they’re under authority, and they perform their duties to the point of death,” he says. “In the Christian walk, God equips us with the tools we need. We just have to surrender. Everyone is able. But not all Christians are willing to give total commitment the way agents I worked with did in the line of duty.”
It took Brewster a long time to grasp this parallel and to learn about God’s plan for his life. He did not have a good image of fatherhood while growing up in Pensacola, Florida. His own father had died in a car crash when Brewster was only three years old. His mother remarried when Brewster was 11, but his stepfather was an alcoholic who was verbally abusive. “I didn’t know how to become a Godly father because I never had a role model,” Brewster says.
The attempted assassination of Reagan taught Brewster lessons that later would strengthen his spiritual walk. He noted, for example, that Secret service agent Timothy McCarthy instinctively took a bullet to protect the chief executive, just as he had been trained to do. Christians, too, should predetermine to follow Jesus at all costs, Brewster believes. “If we put the Gospel inside instead of garbage, the Gospel would come out in high-stress situations,” Brewster says.
In his last decade with the Secret Service, Brewster proclaimed Christ in the workplace by the lifestyle he led. He finished his career as special agent in charge of the Seattle field office, with responsibilities of overseeing five northwestern states.
Brewster retired from the Secret Service in 1998, when he became the National Director of HonorBound: Men of Promise for the Assemblies of God, in Springfield, Missouri. Brewster believes Christians should apply the same principles for daily living as federal agents have learned to protect dignitaries.
Today, after leading HonorBound: Men of Promise for seven years, Brewster has created a new ministry, “Champions of Honor”, which is a focused ministry to men aimed at re-fathering America. He wants to help men discover and develop their Biblical masculinity to ensure they avoid the same mistakes he made. His purpose is to build men into Champions of Honor that will reveal God the Father’s heart to a fatherless generation.
Join Chuck Brewster on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 8:00am – 2:00pm for an intense day of teaching focused specifically for men. Brewster will challenge them to step up and be all they can be in their home and on the job as men of integrity. Also, do not miss the exciting Commissioning Service for two men who have fulfilled the commitment on Sunday, March 29, 2009, 6:00pm.
